Print and Paper

All limited edition works are printed on archival paper and signed and numbered on the back. They are skillfully produced by PhotoCraft imaging lab in Boulder, Colorado. Depending on the print size, a work may be printed as archival Lightjet Photo Print or archival Inkjet Giclee Print. Each print comes with a minimum of 1” paper border.

  • The Lightjet printer was originally developed by Cymbolic Sciences in the early 1990s to write 8×10 inch photographic film. The resulting films were said to be “Digital Originals” and indistinguishable from original slides and negatives.

Lightjet was then further developed to expose true silver-based photographic paper, using helium, argon, and neon lasers. The exposed paper is subsequently processed in traditional photographic chemistry.

PhotoCraft uses Fuji Crystal Archive papers that have the highest rating for longevity of any chromogenic photographic material.

Prints made on Fuji Crystal Archive papers and printed with the Lightjet are widely accepted as fine art and used by the world’s best-known photographers.

  • The term Giclée was initially coined by printmaker Jack Duganne in 1991, and is used today to describe fine art printing using pigment-based, archival inks on advanced inkjet printers.

Currently, our favorite printers for Giclée printing are the Epson 9890 and 9900 printers.

    Our favorite papers include:

Moab® Entrada Rag Bright 290 gsm — 100% cotton smooth finish paper with a bright white surface.

Canson® Infinity Platine Fibre Rag — 100% cotton platinum paper with the latest microporous coating and lustre finish to make the traditional darkroom paper available for digital printing.
